While I have appreciated photography all my life, I’ve only recently begun to take my own photographs. Living behind the camera has changed the way I look at the world, allowing me opportunities to slow down and see the things I might otherwise miss. As Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Annie Dillard says, “…beauty and grace are performed whether or not we will or sense them. The least we can do is try to be there.” (From Pilgrim at Tinker Creek) I try to be there with my camera in hand.
The photographers whose work inspires me the most are those who capture such moments of beauty and grace, the ones who reveal the extraordinary in ordinary things.
